Eva Nicasio Mercier is a Lecturer in the Fowler College of Business at San Diego State University, where she teaches strategic management and international business. She also serves as a tenured faculty member in the Management & Entrepreneurship Department at Grossmont College. Eva brings more than 30 years of international business and trade experience spanning industry and higher education. Prior to transitioning fully into academia, she served as Director of Global Finance Management for a Japanese multinational company based in San Diego. Her professional background includes leadership roles across Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, and Asia, with experience in global finance, international marketing and sales, supply chain management, and cross-border operations. She has managed business units in Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, India, and the Middle East, and previously lived and worked in Europe as an expatriate Commercial Director and Operations Manager in the Netherlands, supporting operations throughout the EMEA region. These experiences have given her deep practical insight into international business systems, cultural differences, and global management practices.
“Eva strongly believes in the importance of cross-cultural interaction and preparing students to operate effectively in a globalized business environment. She values COIL as an opportunity to provide students with meaningful international collaboration experiences that build communication, adaptability, and global awareness beyond what can be learned through textbooks alone. Her COIL work has focused on international marketing, strategic market entry, and global integration and trade bloc policy, helping students engage directly with peers from other countries while navigating real-world managerial and institutional differences.”
