Join us in congratulating the 2025-2026 SUNY COIL Ambassadors! SUNY COIL Ambassadors are selected in recognition of their pedagogical innovations and contributions to the SUNY COIL community of practice. Earners embrace experiential learning and inclusive teaching and learning practices. They make meaningful connections between people, cultures, and ideas, offering engaging and globally relevant educational experiences. They incorporate virtual exchange opportunities as an exemplar for all learners and faculty.

About the SUNY COIL Ambassador Program

What is the SUNY COIL Ambassador Program?

SUNY COIL recognizes outstanding COIL instructors as SUNY COIL Ambassadors, accepting nominations from each SUNY COIL Global Partner Network Member institution annually. We are looking for enthusiastic and effective COIL teaching faculty who can be positive, strong advocates for COIL teaching in our SUNY COIL community.

We will recognize and showcase your outstanding COIL instructors with a certificate of recognition and a digital badge from SUNY COIL. Each nominee will also be featured on our website as a SUNY COIL Ambassador. As a SUNY COIL Ambassador, they will have the opportunity to be SUNY COIL advocates and to share their thoughts and experiences with the SUNY COIL community in various ways throughout the coming year.

How can I nominate a COIL Instructor?

COIL Coordinators of current SUNY COIL member institutions are invited to nominate one exemplary COIL educator from their institution each spring. Check back in Spring 2026 for the 2026-2027 nomination form!

What are the criteria for SUNY COIL Ambassador nominations?

SUNY COIL Ambassadors are selected in recognition of their pedagogical innovations and contributions to the SUNY COIL community of practice. Earners embrace experiential learning and inclusive teaching and learning practices. They make meaningful connections between people, cultures, and ideas, offering engaging and globally relevant educational experiences. They incorporate virtual exchange opportunities as an exemplar for all learners and faculty. Nominees must be affiliated with a current SUNY COIL Global Partner Network Member institution. Self-nominations are not permitted.

What is the time commitment for SUNY COIL Ambassadors?

The time commitment for the SUNY COIL Ambassador Program is truly up to the individual. There are no specific expectations or requirements for SUNY COIL Ambassadors, so this recognition is perfect for someone overwhelmed with other work. That being said, we encourage SUNY COIL Ambassadors to celebrate COIL and engage with the SUNY COIL Global Partner Network in any and all ways they are able! Below is a non-exhaustive list of suggestions:

Submit a resource to appear on our website or in our new resource portal (coming this year) – with full credit
Share a video explaining a COIL concept or experience for our YouTube channel.
Present at a webinar within our Community Webinar Series.
Post about COIL on LinkedIn or other outlets.
Share their COIL project syllabus on our website or in our resource portal (coming this year) – with full credit
Peer-mentor colleagues locally or internationally within a forum we are rolling out in the next Academic year (2025-26)

We will happily celebrate and share information, projects, and opportunities from our Ambassadors with the larger SUNY COIL Community through whichever communication channel(s) the Ambassador prefers.
