
Mónica Olivares Morales

Mónica Olivares Morales is a Doctoral Candidate in Education with a Master’s degree in English Language Teaching, a Specialization in Reading Promotion, and a Bachelor’s degree in English Language Studies. Her work centers on pedagogical innovation and curriculum internationalization, promoting transformative and globally connected learning environments.
Her research focuses on the design and implementation of Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) projects to foster intercultural competence, academic English proficiency, and equitable educational practices. She has coordinated international collaborations with institutions across Canada, Colombia, Ukraine, Brazil, South Africa, and the United States, strengthening students’ global engagement. She currently serves as a SUNY COIL Ambassador, recognizing her leadership in advancing virtual internationalization initiatives.
With teaching experience at both university and upper-secondary levels, she promotes learner autonomy, critical thinking, and meaningful language use. She also served as a Spanish instructor at Chongqing University of Science and Technology in China and contributes as a reviewer and moderator for the Red Latinoamericana COIL 2025.
