Alamo Colleges District, United States
Dr. Yael Edrey is an associate professor at Northwest Vista College in San Antonio, TX. Her PhD focused on establishing a naturally long-lived species as a natural model organism with which to study the disease. Upon completion of her graduate work, she began teaching Biology at her current institution. Over the years, she has taught Anatomy/Physiology, general biology and nutrition. She has been an avid COILER since she first found out about the program in 2021 and has worked with several partners in Mexico, Honduras and Argentina. She continues to develop global learning opportunities for her students in addition to COIL.
“Fueled by curiosity and empathy, COILers embark on a cross-cultural comparison to identify differences, only to realize there are more shared human experiences than variances.”
