  • keeping an observation log with other team members regarding things such as: course planning decisions, partnership lessons learned, teaching and learning observations made, etc.;
  • being available to take part in research activities into COIL, e.g. administering pre- and post-COIL course student questionnaires, conducting action research, completing a project case study, etc.
COIL ACADEMY FELLOWS ELIGIBILITY AND BENEFITS

Faculty at each of the COIL Nodal Network member campuses are eligible to participate in the professional development program (see http://coil.suny.edu/nodal-campuses to double check that your campus is in the Nodal Network). Such individuals should be actively planning to develop a COIL course, or a shared course module within a course. These can be entirely new courses or based on existing courses that will be enhanced by including an international online collaboration. Proposed shared modules should be at least four weeks in duration.

The COIL Course Orientation is open to any interested faculty or staff person from the Nodal Network campuses. The Academy has a contracted number of spots for each campus pending on their membership level, and each campus determines its selection criteria. Interested faculty should contact their COIL Nodal Network Coordinator to find out more about being nominated to participate in the Academy.

The benefits for COIL Professional Development Fellows include:
