SUNY COIL Center Moves to Albany
The SUNY COIL Center has moved. After 11 years in existence, first at Purchase College and then in New York City since 2010, the COIL Center is now located in Albany, NY at the SUNY System Administration Building or the “SUNY Plaza”. As part of the Office of Global Affairs (OGA), also located in Albany, the COIL Center’s programming will benefit from being co-located with SUNY system units with whom we share aspects of our mission, for instance, OPEN SUNY, the Center for Online Teaching Excellence (COTE), and others.
The COIL Center’s Nodal Network of SUNY universities and colleges and the overseas Global Partner Network of institutions in many countries rely on effective coordination for connecting faculty for collaborative teaching projects. Jan McCauley, Assistant Director at the COIL Center, states that “the move will increase the visibility and impact of the work that we do in faculty professional development and will strengthen these networks”.
The COIL Center will continue to work closely with downstate SUNY institutions such as the SUNY Global Center and with our global partners as they visit or transit through New York City. In fact, we are pleased to announce that the next annual SUNY COIL Conference will be held at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City on March 16-17, 2018 allowing us to again gather together a worldwide network of collaborative online international learning professionals.
