Announcing COIL's New Latin America Partnership Program
SUNY recently renewed and expanded its 2009 agreement with Banco Santander S.A., to support international initiatives at SUNY, including for the new COIL Latin America Partnership Program. Through funding from the agreement, COIL will develop eight partnerships between SUNY and members of the Santander Universities in Latin America in support of the development and piloting of co-equal, team-taught learning environments which emphasize experiential and collaborative student learning.
“Santander Bank’s support of higher education is unmatched internationally and this agreement will enable SUNY to extend several initiatives in which we provide unique, valuable tools for students and faculty as well as our colleagues and partners around the world,” said SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher.
“Santander is committed to social responsibility and to strengthening and improving the quality of teaching, research, academics and international collaboration and understanding,” said Banco Santander S.A. Chairman Emilio Botín. “This renewed agreement with SUNY further demonstrates our commitment to higher education and in support of initiatives that help to build bridges between different cultures.”
“SUNY is proud to renew its partnership with Santander Bank, a company well-known for its commitment to young people, to learning, and to corporate social responsibility,” said Mitch Leventhal, SUNY Vice Chancellor for Global Affairs. “Our partnership increases access to global education opportunities for SUNY students and helps them acquire skills and experiences necessary to compete in today’s increasingly global marketplace.”
More details on the initiative will be announced in the fall of 2013.
